When the closing credits roll on Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (out Dec. 13), moviegoers will hear “I See Fire,” a song by Grammy-nominated British folk-pop star Ed Sheeran. “Peter told me you need the song to take the audience by the hand and lead them out of the movie and back into reality,” says Sheeran, who met Jackson while he was touring in New Zealand. Though it’s the first song he’s written specifically for a soundtrack, Sheeran has a clear mission: “I have two big goals. One is to headline a stadium, and I want to win an Academy Award. If I did get nominated I might go dressed up as a hobbit and not wear shoes.”
