Lifetime to launch new Tim Gunn fashion series
Tim Gunn will headline a new fashion competition show for Lifetime.
Premiering Jan. 16, Under the Gunn will feature Project Runway alumni Mondo Guerra, Anya Ayoung-Chee and Nick Verreos, as they mentor 15 new up-and-coming designers. This new crop will be scrutinized by designer Rachel Roy, celebrity stylist Jen Rade and TV fashion correspondent and Marie Claire Senior Fashion Editor Zanna Roberts Rassi in the new unscripted reality show that begins production this month in Los Angeles.
A total of 13 episodes have been ordered.
Lifetime says the first two episode will feature Gunn “presenting a challenge to the fashion hopefuls as Mondo, Anya and Nick measure the skill level of the contestants and duke it out to determine which four designers will land on their teams.” Here’s what else the cable net says: “in the subsequent episodes, Tim will present new challenges that will test the mentors’ ability to bring out the best in their designers as they guide them through the competition. While the designers are whittled down during the season, only the most talented and creative individuals will survive to compete in the finale, where one designer – and one mentor – will be deemed the winners of Under the Gunn.”The show’s already snagged a bevy of sponsors like Lexus, Benefit Cosmetics, and SC Johnson’s Glade. (Because making clothes can be a stinky job?)
Gunn will continue his other gig on Project Runway, which returns to Lifetime next year.
