NBC’s Dracula drained viewers Friday night despite a timely holiday and a tie-in news special.

Dracula had a couple things going for it during Week 2. There was Halloween on Thursday. And at 8 p.m. Friday, NBC News pitched in with a hilariously promotional “Why We Love Vampires” news special (hey, sure, why not, it’s not like anything else worthy of prime-time news coverage happened yesterday).

But at 10 p.m., the Victorian-era vampire thriller fell 27 percent in the adult demo from last week’s premiere — to 3.4 million viewers and a 1.3 rating in the demo, tying CBS’ Blue Bloods in the 10 p.m. hour (oh, if Drac starts losing to Blue Bloods, it’s going to trigger so many bad vampire puns). At 9 p.m., the second week of Grimm slipped too, but not as much — down 17 percent — with 4.9 million viewers and a 1.5 rating.

Why We Love Vampires bombed with 2.6 million viewers and a 0.7 rating, coming in last place in the hour (unless you count The CW, which had The Carrie Diaries rolling its 0.3 gutter-ball). ABC’s Shark Tank won the night as usual with 7.1 million viewers and a 1.9 rating.
