Last week, you saw Pete Holmes chrome his dome to tackle the role of Professor X from the X-Men and fire Wolverine. (Hugh Jackman approved.) This week, in the latest installment of “The Ex-Men,” the comedian and new late-night host aims to relieve Gambit of his duties. He asks some good questions of the kinetic energy-manipulating mutant who can work wonders with a deck of cards, among other things. (“What if we’re attacked, and we’re not inside of a 99-Cent Store? Or in the paper plate aisle of a Target? Or perhaps at some knick-knack flea market in New Hampshire?”) Throw your fingers on the play button and check it out below.

The “Ex-Men” segments — of which there are more — can be seen on The Pete Holmes Show, which premieres Oct. 28 at midnight on TBS following Conan. (Conan O’Brien is an executive producer.) The half-hour series will feature a monologue that’s more rooted in stand-up than topical issues, sketches, video bits and interviews with fellow comedians/celebrities. Plus Pete in a bald cap. But you already knew that.
