Let’s talk about the football game first. NBC Sports’ coverage of Sunday night’s Denver Broncos-Indianapolis Colts game averaged a season-high 17.3 rating in the metered-market household metrics that are used the morning after live sports telecasts. That’s the NFL’s best primetime October telecast since 1998 and pretty huge.

And then there are the other programs. CBS numbers are off a little given some sports overrun, but still. Even with Fox’s animation block in repeats, CBS and ABC entertainment shows were all pretty low, with only Once Upon a Time managing a mere 2.0 rating among adults 18-49 — and that was a series low for the fantasy hit.
