Carrie star Chloë Moretz has signed on to star in the big-screen adaptation of Sam Munson’s 2010 novel November Criminals for Hitchcock director Sacha Gervasi. The novel tells the story of Addison, a D.C.-based high school senior who becomes obsessed with investigating the murder of one of his classmates while applying for colleges. Moretz will play the part of Phoebe. The lead role has yet to be cast. [The Wrap]

• Chris Pine (Star Trek Into Darkness) may sign on to play one of the new Horrible Bosses in the Sean Anders-directed sequel to the 2011 box-office hit. He’d reportedly play the part of a horrible father-and-son team in the flick, which finds Jason Sudeikis, Charlie Day, and Jason Bateman reprising their roles from the original. New Line reportedly wanted Oscar-winner Christoph Waltz to play the part of the father, but it’s unlikely that he’ll join the project. [Deadline]

• Mo McRae (Lee Daniels’ The Butler) has signed on to appear alongside Reese Witherspoon in Jean-Marc Vallée’s (Dallas Buyers Club) adaptation of Cheryl Strayed’s Wild. McRae will play a journalist who encounters Witherspoon’s character on her journey. [THR]

• Nora Zehetner (Heroes, Brick) has joined the indie relationship drama Creative Control. Ben Dickinson is starring in and directing the New York City-set flick. [THR]

• Dylan McDermott (Hostages) will play Milla Jovovich’s boss and boyfriend in the State Department thriller Survivor. [Deadline]
