PBS Kids’ Thomas & Friends just got a little more cinematic.

The next season of the preschool favorite will chug onscreen next week — and don’t be surprised if it looks slightly different. This season, Thomas is being brought to life by a new animation studio: Toronto-based Arc Productions, the company behind 9 and Gnomeo and Juliet. Check below for another sneak peek at their right-on-track work.

Other changes are also afoot — er, on the rails? — for Thomas. This fall marks the series’ move to a new daily schedule. Upcoming episodes also feature new locations and characters, including speedy engine Caitlin and Ulfstead Castle. Additionally, PBS Kids will air a 60-minute Thomas special, titled King of the Railway, on Nov. 16. (The special hits DVD on Sept. 17.)

Thomas & Friends returns to PBS Kids Monday, Oct. 7. (Check local listings.)
