Cate Blanchett directs her first movie, Ken Jeong has a new NBC comedy, and more

Cate Blanchett will make her directorial debut with the film adaptation of Herman Koch‘s 2009 novel, The Dinner. Oren Moverman (The Messenger) is attached to write the script and exec-produce with Eva Maria Daniels and Olga Segura.

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. just debuted on ABC, but Marvel is already considering another TV series spun off from the Avengers universe: The studio is developing a show around Agent Carter, a spy played by Hayley Atwell in Captain America.

Community actor Ken Jeong will star on and produce an NBC comedy called Dr. Ken, based on Jeong’s days as a medical doctor before he became an actor.
