• Colin Farrell has reportedly been offered the lead in Warcraft, the Legendary Pictures adaptation of the popular video game World of Warcraft. Paula Patton (Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol) is also in talks to star in the film, which is set to go into production in January with Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) in the director’s chair. Paul Dano (Prisoners), Anson Mount (Hell on Wheels), Anton Yelchin (Star Trek Into Darkness) and Travis Fimmel (Vikings) are all on the short list as well. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay has found its Castor and Pollux in Wes Chatham (The Help) and Elden Henson (Jobs). [Variety]

Thomas Sadoski, who plays Don on HBO’s The Newsroom, is in talks to play Reese Witherspoon’s ex-husband in Jean-Marc Valle’s (Dallas Buyers Club) adaptation of Cheryl Strayed’s Wild. [THR]

Mad Men’s Aaron Staton (a.k.a Ken Cosgrove) is set to star in Preservation, a psychological horror film about a pair of brothers hunting in the midwest. Pablo Schreiber (Orange Is The New Black) will play his brother in the Blumhouse film. Argo actor Christopher Denham will direct the project. He previously directed 2008’s indie horror film Home Movie. [Variety]

• Vanessa Marano, who stars on ABC Family’s Switched at Birth, has joined the Los Angeles production of Senior Project, a high school-set comedy written by a 16-year-old who participated in a writers workshop in Hong Kong. [Variety]

• There’s a Fast & Furious spoof movie in the works from the directors of Vampires Suck (Aaron Seltzer and Jason Friedberg) called Superfast. Alex Ashbaugh (The Canyons) is in talks to play the Paul Walker role, and Dale Pavinski is nearing a deal to play the Vin Diesel stand-in. Lili Mirojnick (Cloverfield) and Andrea Navedo will play the Jordana Brewster and Michelle Rodriguez roles. [THR]
