'Big Bang Theory' raises for Amy and Bernadette
Couldn’t have happened to a better duo: The Big Bang Theory’s Mayim Bailik (Amy) and Melissa Rauch (Bernadette) have each received pay increases for starring on CBS’ top-rated comedy that’ll begin its seventh season Sept. 26.
Deadline reports the two have nearly doubled their per episode take to around $60,000 per episode — up from the $20K-$30k range. The women, who also added a year to the current deals, are expected to make nearly $100K an episode by the end of their contracts.
The new deal comes at a time when the five original cast members prepare to re-negotiate their multi-million dollar deals, which expire in June. The show’s licensing agreement between CBS and Warner Bros. TV, which produces the comedy, is also up after this season. Fun!
Back in 2010, Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons scored significant pay hikes, as did Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar. Given the popularity of the show, their raises made big news — which prompted this comment by Galecki to EW in 2012: ”I don’t even understand why the Internet has made it possible to reveal contract information. ‘We didn’t sign off on that being made public. It seems tasteless, which is maybe very Midwestern of me, but I just don’t understand.”
Cuoco, meanwhile, tried to look at the upside of it. ”I would be lying if I said I couldn’t do Penny with my eyes closed,” she told EW. “It’s such second nature to me now. But if I ever do get those moments of ‘God, this feels the same,’ I just read those articles about how much money I make and think, ‘You know, it’s not so repetitive anymore!”’
