Britney Spears defends Miley Cyrus on 'GMA'
Britney Spears gave America a piece of her this morning…and it was awesome.
Spears stopped by Good Morning America to announce a residency at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, but that wasn't all viewers learned during her quick sit down with Sam Champion. Spears, who rarely does interviews, was her goofy self, a happy sight for fans. She even participated in a lightning round of questions about her famous past. What did viewers learn? Read on for her thoughts on Miley Cyrus (Spears will guest on her upcoming album), the "Oops…I Did it Again" dance, and even a little bit of intel about one Mr. Justin Timberlake.
1.) Leave Miley Alone! Britney's no stranger to controversy, so it's no surprise that the woman who once came onstage wearing a snake around her neck defended Cyrus' controversial VMA performance. "I think any time you do a performance that is that memorable you're going to have criticism," she said. "She's just doing her thing, so I give props to her." That's right: Britney Spears thinks she's just being Miley.
2.) When asked when her first kiss was, Spears giggled and said she thought she was probably about 13. One David Frost-esque follow-up by Champion, and he got Spears to admit that her first kiss was from Mickey Mouse Club co-star and future all-denim ensemble partner, Justin Timberlake.
3.) Sorry, Jack MacFarland. Britney Spears will not do the "Oops…I Did It Again" dance with you, no matter how much you've been practicing. (But she'll totally do it in Vegas! Right?)
4.) Spears is just like you! "Toxic" is the hit of hers she likes the most. (It's also the only song of hers to win a Grammy.)
5.) Break ups are the worst…even if you're the woman behind "Stronger." "During the [writing of] this album, I had a break up with Jason that I went through that I wrote a lot about…Break ups suck, man! They do!"
