Justin Bieber is many things: a pretty good singer, an accomplished drummer, target practice for the CSI crew, and a top-shelf Internet troll.

On Friday night, the 19-year-old Canadian star posted a photo to his Instagram account that featured a copy of a script labeled Batman Vs. Superman, complete with a “BIEBER” watermark across it and a caption that read, “#robin ??” Not surprisingly, the photo quickly made the rounds. Some fans of Batman, who already claim to have been traumatized by the casting of Ben Affleck as the next Bruce Wayne, quickly went nuts, loudly declaring that “Batman would be ruined forever” should Bieber find his way into the next film, which will also feature Henry Cavill reprising his role as Superman.

Of course, it’s likely that fans can go back to fretting about Affleck in Batman Vs. Superman, which is being directed by Man of Steel director Zack Snyder. Earlier in the day, Bieber tweeted that he was “Off to do something funny…or die,” which suggests that the whole scenario is probably part of a forthcoming sketch. In fact, the piece in question could be a satire of the absolute apoplexy that Bat-fans suffered when it was announced that Affleck would be donning the cape and the cowl. If that’s true, it makes Bieber’s Instagram photo — and the reaction that followed — a nice bit of meta-humor about how closely fans value the casting of their most beloved characters.

Then again, maybe Bieber really is going to play Robin. Would that be so terrible? He certainly wouldn’t be any worse than Chris O’Donnell.
