• Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond) has joined the cast of Fast & Furious 7 in an unknown role. Other newcomers to the franchise include Kurt Russell and Ronda Rousey, who will be joined by Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Jason Statham — all returning for Insidious director James Wan’s Fast & Furious debut. In addition to roles in Seventh Son and the upcoming rom com Baggage Claim, Hounsou is also playing Korath the Pursuer in Guardians of the Galaxy. [Variety]

Downton Abbey alum Jessica Brown Findlay will star opposite Daniel Radcliffe and James McAvoy in Frankenstein. She’ll play a trapeze artist who forms a bond with Igor (Radcliffe) after he saves her. Paul McGuigan (Push, Wicker Park) is set to direct. Findlay’s next release is the Akiva Goldsmith fantasy Winter’s Tale, starring Matt Bomer, Will Smith, and Jennifer Connelly that hits theaters on Feb. 14. [THR]

• Mark Wahlberg may be circling a remake of the 1974 movie The Gambler about a college professor with a gambling addiction. He’d star in the role originated by James Caan and also serve as a producer. Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) is looking to direct. Oscar-winning screenwriter William Monahan (The Departed) wrote the updated screenplay. [Deadline]

• Olivia Thirlby, who memorably played Ellen Page’s best friend in Juno, is set to star in an untitled wedding comedy for Jeremy Garelick, starring Kevin Hart and Josh Gad. She’ll play Kaley Cuoco’s sister. [The Wrap]

• Jim Broadbent (Cloud Atlas) and Ray Stevenson (Thor) have joined the cast of Big Game. Samuel L. Jackson will star as the President of the United States who struggles for survival in the woods alongside a 13-year-old boy after Air Force One is shot down by terrorists. [Deadline]
