Sean Sasser, of MTV's 'Real World,' dies at 44

Sean Sasser, an AIDS activist who was once married to The Real World: San Francisco cast member Pedro Zamora, has died of mesothelioma, according to People.

Sasser’s relationship and commitment ceremony to Zamora on national television was a groundbreaking moment in the history of television, giving a face to a virus which was rarely spoken about.

Fellow Real World: San Francisco castmate Judd Winick tweeted: “Our friend Sean Sasser has died. Our love goes out to his family & husband Michael. We will miss u so much.”

Zamora died in 1994 at the age of 22 from AIDS-related causes.
