The Psych musical has a premiere date!

Today the USA Network announced that the much-anticipated Psych: The Musical will air as a two-hour episode Dec. 15.

In the episode, which was screened last night during San Diego Comic-Con, Shawn (James Roday) and Gus (Dulé Hill) attempt to track down an escaped playwright madman, played by Anthony Rapp. Once their investigation hits a snag, however, Shawn and Gus are forced to consult with the one person Z confided in while in the institution … a dangerous and familiar villain from Shawn’s past.

Meanwhile, the USA Network also announced that “A Nightmare on State Street” was the victor of the first-ever  Psych fan vote, in which Psych-os voted on which new episode they wanted to see produced as part of the eighth season. In the episode, an exhausted Gus will enter dream therapy to understand the cause of his recent night terrors.

Before all the action, the Psych cast stopped by the EW studio at the Hard Rock Hotel. Stay tuned for that video as part of EW’s ongoing coverage of Comic Con.
