Glee‘s executive producers, 20th Century Fox Television and Fox Broadcasting Company released a joint statement just before midnight PT on Saturday regarding the unexpected death of Glee star Cory Monteith, who was found in a Vancouver hotel room Saturday afternoon.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person. He was a true joy to work with and we will all miss him tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones,” the short statement said.

The actor, 31, played Finn Hudson on the Fox television program. As news broke, many of Monteith’s co-stars took to Twitter to pay their respects.

An autopsy is set to take place Monday, according to Vancouver police.
