Though Jax (Charlie Hunnam) got rid of one problem last season by framing Clay (Ron Perlman) for Pope’s murder, he’s got a much tougher one to tackle in season 6: helping his wife, Tara (Maggie Siff), beat a conspiracy-to-commit-murder charge. (Damn you, Otto!) CCH Pounder joins the cast as Tyne Patterson, a San Joaquin County DA who teams with ex–U.S. Marshal Lee Toric (Donal Logue) to make sure the charges stick. Jax, meanwhile, has some big decisions to make when it comes to the club’s shady enterprises and who he’ll pick to replace Bobby (Mark Boone Junior) as vice president. Jimmy Smits returns as Nero Padilla, who continues romancing Gemma (Katey Sagal). As for any teasers about what’s going to happen with Jax, Clay, and Gemma, exec producer Paris Barclay prefers to remind fans of SOA‘s inspiration: ”If you haven’t read your Hamlet, this is a good time to familiarize yourself. We’re coming toward the end of the mythology, and viewers should recognize Shakespearean antecedents.”
