James Franco managed to choose a surprising new project once again: The actor-director-writer will be the guest of honor at Comedy Central’s next roast, EW has confirmed.

“If only James Franco was a more successful, multi-hyphenated, incessant creative risk taker in different media, he’d be the perfect person to roast.  Oh well… I suppose we’ll just have to make do,” Kent Alterman, president of content development & original programming for Comedy Central, said in a release.

“I’ve dreamed about this Roast for as long as I can remember,” Franco added.

The roast, which will be taped in August and will air Labor Day, won’t be all the Franco on the network that weekend; Comedy Central has also acquired the rights to the Franco-directed documentary, Francophrenia, about Franco’s stint on General Hospital (playing a character named, what else?, Franco). Francophrenia will air immediately following the roast on Comedy Central’s digital and VOD platforms.
