Lena Dunham, Jemima Kirke parody Miley
Lena Dunham is young but prolific. In her 27 years, she’s already written, directed, and starred in two feature films, a pair of web series, and the Golden Globe-winning HBO “comedy” Girls; she’s also working on a $3.7 million book for Random House.
But though she’s one of Hollywood’s busiest bees, Dunham somehow found time over the weekend to write, direct, edit, and star in another high-profile project: a 15-second parody of Miley Cyrus’ “We Can’t Stop” music video, co-starring her old pal (and fellow Girls castmate) Jemima Kirke.
Don’t expect big things; the brief video, which Dunham calls her “first (and last!?)” foray into Instagram filmmaking, can’t hold a candle to more sustained parodies like Taran Killam’s masterful re-creation of Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend” video. It does, however, feature Dunham paddling Kirke’s British bum with a wooden spoon. Who among us hasn’t wanted to do the same thing to Jessa at some point?
Answer Lena: Did it turn out good?!
