It’s an old question about singing competition shows: How would real music legends have fared when facing the judges? Would the likes of Jim Morrison, Johnny Cash, Stevie Nicks or Michael Jackson have ever passed the audition rounds to join the ranks of blandly competent karaoke singers that typically populate shows like Fox’s American Idol?

Or how about John Lennon? Below, a crafty editor has put together a video imagining the Beatles’ singer on NBC’s The Voice doing a blind audition (the video is from a 1975 concert; one of Lennon’s final live performances). Needless to say, Adam, Shakira, Usher and Blake are not impressed.

A rotating chair-full of judges search for the next great superstar singer on this NBC reality show.
