The Civil Wars, ”The One That Got Away”
The beautifully morose first single from the gifted but famously contentious folk duo’s second album, due Aug. 6, swells with moments of white-hot bitterness (”I wish you were the one that got away”) and haunted harmonies — only adding to the intrigue of their mysterious recent hiatus and uncertain future as a band. Robyn Feat. Snoop Dogg, ”U Should Know Better”
Though it’s been kicking around since 2010 (notice that Snoop is still pre-Lion), this Body Talk jam is finally getting a formal release, and it’s worth the wait. The Swedish pop virtuoso cranks up her gangsta lean over thumping electro fuzz, proclaiming, ”There’ll be no more celibacy/Even the Vatican knows better than to f— with me.” Your move, new Pope! Jack Johnson, ”I Got You”
Like most Jack Johnson songs, this first single from his upcoming sixth album is so breezy, it threatens to blow away like a beach umbrella. But a little whistling and a lot of crisp vocal harmonies keep its toes in the sand. BKyle Anderson

Fifth Harmony, ”Miss Movin’ On”
Following in One Direction’s pricey-sneakered footprints, this X Factor girl group bakes as many cookie-cutter clichés as possible — sassy lyrics, soft-loud dynamics, a stadium-size beat — into a pop confection that’s totally generic, a little too sugary, and pretty much impossible not to scarf down.
