'Orange Is the New Black': Check out the trailer for Netflix's women's prison drama
It isn’t often you get to utter the words, “Hey, I’ve stood in that women’s prison shower!” But that’s exactly what I said while watching the trailer for the Netflix dramedy Orange Is The New Black, whose set in Queens, NY, I visited earlier this year.
Based on Piper Kerman’s 2010 prison memoir of the same name the show was cocreated by Jenji Kohan, of Weeds fame, and stars Taylor Schilling, Jason Biggs, Laura Prepon, Kate Mulgrew, and Natasha Lyonne.
Netflix will release the entire 13-episode debut season on July 11, but you can check out the (some nudity- and raw language-featuring) trailer below.
Orange Is the New Black
Jenji Kohan’s absorbing ensemble dramedy, based on Piper Kerman’s memoir of the same name, takes viewers inside the walls of Litchfield, a minimum security women’s prison where nothing’s as simple as it seems—especially the inmates.
