Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman recently sought treatment for substance abuse. TMZ initially reported that the actor, who reportedly struggled with substance abuse in the past, was clean for 23 years before relapsing more than a year ago when he started taking prescription pills. The habit then escalated to Hoffman snorting heroin for approximately a week before he checked himself into a detox facility.

After 10 days of detox, the actor checked out last Friday, according to a source close to Hoffman, and is already back at work on the set of his next movie in Europe.
