Jeff Probst was cagey when he announced the title of the next season of Survivor as Blood vs. Water and showed a clip of blood mixing with water that looked vaguely like a promo for Showtime’s Dexter. But he is cagey no longer! When I traveled on location last week for filming of the upcoming season and spoke to Probst for an interview that ran today on Entertainment Weekly’s new SiriusXM channel 105, I was shocked to hear him go ahead and reveal the big twist for all to hear. “I think it’s okay to say that it is going to be family members,” said Probst of the next season’s cast. “And they’ll end up playing against each other.” Whose family members? you may ask. Well, CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler tells EW that Survivor: Blood vs. Water will indeed feature “the return of great characters and their relatives.” So there you have it: The cast will be a mix of returning players and their loved ones. Which returning players? Well, Probst isn’t quite ready to spill on that, but you can hear him talk about the new season and twist right here on the InsideTV Podcast replay of that EW Radio chat.

In addition to that news, Jeff also makes a bold promise — that he will indeed deliver the final Tribal Council votes back to America in dramatic style (like his incredible jet ski/subway and skydiving/motorcycle adventures of the past — the latter of which I misidentify as being from Cook Islands, but is actually Vanuatu) at least once more before the show ends its epic run. I throw out some exciting new options for vote delivery — parasailing, jetpack, hovercraft, submarine… — and Probst gives his thoughts on each. But we kick things off with EW favorite Joss Whedon. The mastermind behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Firefly/Serenity, Dollhouse, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, and The Avengers has two new projects in the works — a modern day telling of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing and ABC’s Avengers spin-off, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Joss takes us inside both projects while also revealing the one thing fans love to corner and harass him about the most (you may be surprised at the answer).

Speaking of folks with big sci-fi fan bases, X-Files alum Gillian Anderson calls in to talk about her new show streaming on Netflix, The Fall. Anderson plays a detective trying to catch a serial killer, but her character won’t let that get in the way of her sex life! Anderson chats all about the role as well as her eclectic career and life post-X-Files. She also reveals the one show she couldn’t help but binge-watch.
