The Parks and Recreation actor has been cast as President John F. Kennedy in the upcoming two-hour National Geographic Channel movie Killing Kennedy.

In addition, Ginnifer Goodwin (Once Upon a Time) will play First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy and Michelle Trachtenberg (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) has been cast as Lee Harvey Oswald’s wife Marina.

Killing Kennedy is based on the best-selling book by Fox News host Bill O’Reilly along with Martin Dugard. The story chronicles the final years of Kennedy and his assassin Oswald (not yet cast). The film’s debut later this year will coincide with the 50th anniversary of Kennedy’s death. The project will be directed by Nelson McCormick (The West Wing).

Nat Geo previously aired O’Reilly’s Killing Lincoln, which became the most-watched program in the channel’s history. There are also plans underway to adapt O’Reilly’s next book, Killing Jesus.
