Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Clarkson is a scientist who would like to take you to Oz.

At least that’s the message sent in the new video for her Greatest Hits single “People Like Us” (which is not a cover of the Talking Heads track of the same name, though that would have been pretty sweet too).

In the clip, Clarkson lords over a black and white laboratory where employees poke and prod at a young girl who happens to be in full color. Will Clarkson help the girl escape into the psychedelic outside world? Watch it below:

“People Like Us” was directed by Chris Marrs Piliero, who is becoming a force in the music video world: His resume now includes the Black Keys (“Tighten Up,” “Howlin’ For You,” and the RZA collaboration “The Baddest Man Alive”), Britney Spears (“I Wanna Go” and “Criminal”), the Wanted (“I Found You”), and Ke$ha (“Blow,” a.k.a. The One With James Van Der Beek).

In the meantime, Clarkson is busy working with producer Greg Kurstin on a Christmas album (due later this year) and definitely not working as a judge on American Idol. You can catch her on tour with Maroon 5, though.
