'A Million Ways to Die in the West' gets summer 2014 release date
- Movie
In a predicted move, Universal has reunited with Seth MacFarlane and the team behind Ted to produce another R-rated summer comedy.
Given Ted‘s success, it seemed only a matter of time before Universal came on board with the team’s newest project — A Million Ways to Die in the West. EW has confirmed Universal’s announcement today that it would be co-funding the western comedy, giving it a May 30 release date for the summer of 2014.
Seth MacFarlane, in addition to writing, producing and co-writing, also plays the lead role – a cowardly sheep farmer who loses his girlfriend after backing out of a gunfight. A mysterious newcomer helps him find himself and undoubtedly engage in some good old-fashioned gunplay.
The film also features Charlize Theron, Liam Neeson, Amanda Seyfried, Sarah Silverman, Giovanni Ribisi and Neil Patrick Harris. It is co-written (as was Ted) by Wellesley Wild and Alec Sulkin. Ted producers Scott Stuber and Jason Clark return as well.
