The Wanted, ”Walks Like Rihanna”
The 98 Degrees to One Direction’s Backstreet Boys don’t have many criteria for would-be paramours. Can’t sing, can’t dance? Not a problem. She just has to be a little freaky and be able to put one foot in front of the other like a certain Only Girl in the World. Does RiRi really have a game-changing strut? And if she did, would she bust it out to this rote, cheeky-but-groan-worthy midtempo misfire? Oh, naw naw. CKyle Anderson

MGMT, ”Alien Days”
Are MGMT angling to be the next Flaming Lips? The duo broke big making catchy, hyperactive art-pop for college kids in the late aughts, but ever since then, they’ve deliberately leaned more art than pop. The lead single from their forthcoming third album takes those spacey, psychedelic vibes even further, and ultimately drifts too far out to make an impact. Ground control to MGMT: Come back to Earth already. B-Ray Rahman
