Hollywood for Sale: Buy a diamond made from 'True Blood' star Ryan Kwanten's hair
A lock of Justin Beiber’s hair once sold at auction for $40,668, but if you place the winning bid on a clipping from Ryan Kwanten’s mane, you also get a diamond necklace.
The actor, who plays Bon Temp resident Jason Stackhouse on True Blood, donated a lock of his hair to jewelry company SKY and LIVI to create a blue diamond pendant that will be auctioned off to raise funds for cancer awareness. The gem, which was created using a technique that translates the carbon signature of a person’s hair into a lab-grown diamond, is set in an 18K white gold pendant and has been valued at $16, 000.
“My friend Anjanette started SKY and LIVI to help women cope with hair loss due to chemo. I know first hand how traumatic this moment is, as my mother is a breast cancer survivor and lost her hair during treatment,” Kwanten said. “I think it is empowering for women to make a diamond from their hair, so I’m donating my hair to create a diamond in honor of my mother – to honor her strength and to celebrate her life.”
The pendant is currently up for bids at on CharityBuzz.com. Proceeds raised from the sale will benefit Look Good Feel Better, an organization that aims to help the self-esteem and self-image of women battling cancer.
