Kristen Wiig 'Saturday Night Live' sketches we want to see
Kristen Wiig is coming home again to host the May 11 episode of Saturday Night Live. Over six seasons, Wiig cemented herself as one of the funniest SNL cast members of all time. She has killer impressions, her Drew Barrymore is spot on and her Kim Cattrall is scary good, created oodles of memorable characters, oh Target lady, and constantly swung for the fences. Here are some memorable sketches we want to see again (and a few that we don’t).
What we want to see:
1. ”Two A-holes”
These two terrible people chew gum, constantly talk on their phone, and have no regard for anyone around them. But they’re so much fun!
2. Rebecca Larue
This character might have been perfect and it’s a shame Wiig only did it once. Plus, it’s always nice reminder that you never really touch your hair as much as when you’re talking to a boy you’re trying to impress.
3. TIE: Kathy Lee and Elisabeth Hasselbeck
Presumably, neither of these two talk show hosts is going to be super relevant in the next few weeks. So, let’s all keep our fingers crossed one of them does something crazy that Wiig should parody.
4. TIE: Penelope and Judy Grimes
Both of these characters have pretty similar shticks of saying lists super fast. Penelope, the one-upper, was one of the reasons we first fell in love with Wiig and it was hard not to applaud after Wiig got through one of Grimes signature ”just kidding” monologues. Either character would be great to see again.
5. Anything that brings all the ladies together
Is it the equivalent of yelling ”New York, the greatest city in the world” in terms of audience pandering? Yes. But do we still want to see Tina, Amy, and Maya make an appearance? Of course.
NEXT: A few that could get cut in dress.
Although Wiig brought major commitment to all of these roles, we’d prefer not to see these characters when she returns.
After a Christmas special, this character is best left retired.
2. Mindy Greyson, Secret Word
This sketch is probably one of Wiig’s favorites, judging by the fact that it appeared in her final episode. Still, the joke’s the same every time and we only kind of liked it the first time. The one part of this sketch that sometimes makes it great, however, is hearing what terrible off-off-Broadway show Mindy is in now. Maybe if she returns she’ll be looking for a part in Hit List.
The super sexy Shanna who says and does increasingly disgusting things is sometimes worth it for the guys’ reactions, but most of the times it gets old fast.
4. Garth and Kat
Although Wiig and Armisen’s friendship is adorable, these guys are just annoying. It’s just like, be prepared already.
And just to make you cry forever (you’re welcome), here’s the very emotional Wiig farewell:
