Victor Ortiz goes home on 'Dancing With the Stars'
Week 6’s booted couple spoke to EW after the Dancing With the Stars results show.
Victor Ortiz, who holds several boxing titles, will not be adding a Mirrorball to his trophy case, and said he was unsurprised by his elimination (full recap here).
“I accepted the fact that we were getting eliminated yesterday — the reason for that being that my performance yesterday for whatever reason did not come through the way it did in rehearsals,” Ortiz, 26, explained to EW. “I felt it, I knew it, the scores were low… I don’t know what happened, I just kind of choked.”
He said he was unprepared for how challenging the choreography would be when he initially signed up for the show.
“Being an athlete, I thought I had an advantage — then I got to actually dance,” said Ortiz. “The first day in the studio I said, ‘I take it all back!'”
He said he respects the scores the judges gave him, because they are the experts.
“The judges were spot on — I don’t know anything about dancing.”
Ortiz already has some fights lined up and is excited for the many friends he made on DWTS to sit ringside and cheer him on.
This was pro Lindsay Arnold’s first season of Dancing, and she said she would love to return for future seasons. She said she enjoyed teaching someone how to dance, but she also learned a lot herself.
“She learned how to punch, too,” Ortiz said.
