We saw teaselet for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire‘s first official trailer earlier this week, but the full cornucopia of goodness spilled out during the final moments of tonight’s MTV Movie Awards — complete with a literally fiery intro by star Liam Hemsworth. Was it worth the wait? Watch and decide for yourself below.

For a movie about fire, this promo certainly was chilling — from the blue-tinged visual palate to Effie Trinket’s (Elizabeth Banks) ice-queen realness. Another string puller, Plutarch Heavensbee (Philip Seymour Hoffman) was perfect — coolly, calculatedly understated — while caucusing with President Snow (Donald Sutherland). And Katniss appeared to be shivering from fear during a scene in which she watched Gale (Hemsworth) being whipped by a cruel peacekeeper.

That’s not to say there weren’t any sparks. As President Snow noted, there is a revolution smoldering in the districts thanks to Katniss and Peeta’s (Josh Hutcherson) rebellious joint win of the previous Hunger Games. Public riots, like those seen briefly in The Hunger Games, are certain to occur along many stops of the District 12-ers’ Victory Tour.

Even without any glimpses of the next arena (I, for one, cannot wait to see that on the big screen), it’s clear that battle is already raging as Snow & Co. brace themselves for a populace growing bolder by the day: “Because of her, they all pose a threat. Because of her, they all think they’re invincible.”

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire opens Nov. 22.
