Here’s something that should suddenly make this nothing day seem worthwhile: This afternoon, Katie takes a trip to the set of Hot in Cleveland, where Mary Tyler Moore, Valerie Harper, and Cloris Leachman recently filmed a guest spot alongside their old Mary Tyler Moore cast mates (and current Cleveland residents) Betty White and Georgia Engel.

Though it’s been over 30 years since the ladies appeared on a sitcom together, you’d never know it from their strong rapport. Here’s a sneak peek of Moore and Harper explaining why Mary Richards had such a hold on women. (Valerie’s explanation: “Mary is who you wish you were, Rhoda is who you probably are, and Phyllis is who you’re afraid you’ll become.”)

Even when discussing tough stuff — like Harper’s battle with terminal brain cancer — the gals manage to keep their senses of humor intact. Note how White skillfully lightens the mood in this next clip, which initially might make you get a little misty:

The MTM reunion on Katie airs in syndication today. Hot in Cleveland‘s MTM reunion airs this summer.
