The toughest obstacle course on television is returning this summer, but with some changes: NBC’s American Ninja Warrior is getting two new hosts and some format tweaks.
Former NFL player and NFL Network sports analyst Akbar Gbaja Biamila is joining the show as a host, alongside returning host Matt Iseman. In addition, ESPN sports broadcaster Jenn Brown will join the show as a co-host.
The show will also have a newly revised format for each city’s qualifying courses, with a “win and get in” format that allows all competitors who successfully compete a city’s course earning a trip to Las Vegas and a chance at the American Ninja Warrior title.
“After the success of last season, we knew we had to give audiences more of the thrills and excitement that only American Ninja Warrior can deliver,” said executive producer Arthur Smith. “This year promises to be bigger, better, and even more challenging.”
Production on the new season starts on April 5. The show will air on both Esquire Network (formerly G4) and NBC. “I am elated to be a part of the American Ninja Warrior family,” Gbaja Biamila said. “This is truly the most epic competition show on television and one one of the biggest highlights of my broadcast career
