Jude Law has exited the new movie Jane Got A Gun, EW has confirmed.

Problems arose on Monday, which was supposed to be the first day of shooting for the indie drama. Director Lynne Ramsay (We Need To Talk About Kevin) didn’t show up and apparently has quit the production, according to a Deadline report. The site also says that star Natalie Portman, who is co-producing the picture, and the rest of the team quickly were able to get Gavin O’Connor to step in as director as of this morning, but as evidenced by Law’s departure, problems are still ongoing.

“I have millions of dollars invested, we’re ready to shoot, we have a great script, crew and cast,” producer Scott Steindorff told Deadline about Ramsay’s departure. “I’m shocked and so disappointed someone would do this to 150 crew members who devoted so much time, energy, commitment and loyalty to a project, and then have the director not show up. It is insane somebody would do this to other people.”

Reps for O’Connor, Portman, Ramsay and Steindorff did not respond to EW’s request for comment.
