Morrissey cancels on Kimmel due to 'Duck Dynasty'
If you’ve set your DVR to record Morrissey’s performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live this evening, well, heaven knows you’ll be miserable tonight.
Moz has cancelled his scheduled appearance on today’s episode of Kimmel due to moral reasons, E! reports. What moral reasons, you ask? According to his rep, the former Smiths frontman “cannot morally be on a television program where the cast members of Duck Dynasty will also be guests.”
Apparently the vegan “Meat Is Murder” singer caught wind that stars of the A&E reality show will also be visiting Kimmel’s studio today, and, since they make products for duck hunters, that means Morrissey’s out.
“Morrissey is thankful for being invited to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live tomorrow, Feb. 26,” his rep told E!. “Morrissey would be honored to play the show, if Duck Dynasty were removed.”
Morrissey himself echoed the sentiment. “As far as my reputation is concerned, I can’t take the risk of being on a show alongside people who, in effect, amount to animal serial killers,” said the singer, who recently decreed that no meat would be served at his Staples Center show on March 1.
“If Jimmy cannot dump Duck Dynasty,” he continued, “then we must step away.”
Sometimes we wonder if Morrissey makes these commitments just so that he cancel them.
