FX has shrewdly turned to Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter to find another potential hit for the cable network.

Sutter, together with John Shiban (Hell on Wheels), has closed a series script deal for Lucas Stand, which FX describes is a dark, action/horror drama with both episodic and serialized elements. It’s based on an idea by Sutter and follows the salvation quest of a damaged former special ops soldier, who has been chosen to traverse time and place to hunt down and kill Hell’s law-breaking demons.

Sutter and Sons of Anarchy star Katey Sagal, with Belle Zwerdling, are also developing a dark comedy at FX called Diva. Clown. Killer.

This will be Shiban’s first project with FX.

Sons of Anarchy is the highest-rated series ever on FX. The recently concluded fifth season was the series’ highest rated season, averaging 6.37 million viewers.
