We all know that the late-night business is super cutthroat and can get a bit rough — to say  nothing of the accompanying ice cream flavor rivalries.

So, when Stephen Colbert stopped by Late Night With Jimmy Fallon last night, things were a little awkward. Sure, the two men had once been BFF for six months, but those days are history. Fallon and Colbert tried to break the ice by exchanging golden envelopes. Too bad inside the envelopes were invitations to each others’ competing Oscar parties (speaking of which…).

Can these two ever be BFF again? Well, maybe not, but at least they’ll always have songs. Therefore, they did what they had to do and silently walked to a white piano to sing “Ivory and Ivory” to each other. While it wasn’t as good as Colbert’s rendition of “Friday” (but really, what is?), it’s still pretty great.
