The Silent House

type
  • Movie

This sort-of ghost story from Uruguay, The Silent House, was remade last year with Elizabeth Olsen. That’s no reason to avoid the atmospheric — and for long stretches, dialogue-free — original, about a young woman trying to escape a spooky house. B+ We Are What We Are (2011, 1 hr., 29 mins., Not Rated) Mexican director Jorge Michel Grau’s intense film has been cannibalized for U.S. audiences in the form of a forthcoming remake. Readers curious about its subject matter will find a clue in the previous sentence. B+
