Jason Lee to play hallucinating detective in CBS pilot
Jason Lee is headed back to primetime as the star of a CBS crime pilot.
The My Name Is Earl and Memphis Beat actor has been cast in the lead role on Second Sight, a project under consideration for next season.
Lee plays a detective with the New Orleans Police Department who’s concealing a troublesome secret. He has an ocular disorder, which causes him to have horrifying and visually stimulating anxiety dreams and hallucinations. Told by his doctor that he will not go blind, he’s encouraged to “think of the side effects as a gift — signposts from his subconscious.” Second Sight is based on a 1999 British TV show of the same name that starred Clive Owen.
Michael and Gerald Cuesta wrote the pilot and executive produce along with Carol Mendelsohn, Julie Weitz, Nick Reed and Phil Goldfine.
