'Downton Abbey:' Actor Tom Ellis to court [Spoiler!]?
WARNING: CONTAINS DOWNTON ABBEY SPOILERS.
Has Downton Abbey already found a new suitor for Lady Mary (Michelle Dockery)? Not quite…
Just days after the season three finale—which showed Mathew (Dan Stevens) dying in a devastating car wreck—aired in the U.S., the Daily Mail reports that the series has cast British actor Tom Ellis to play Mary’s new love interest. However, MASTERPIECE publicist Olivia Wong tells EW that the casting news is, “Not true at all.”
Of course, that’s not to say Mary won’t be finding love next season. When EW spoke to Downton exec producer Gareth Neame he explained that, “Next year very much the spine of it is Mary rebuilding her life. Inevitably that means she’s got to, at some point, [find a] new man. She’s an eligible young widow.”
