'Amazing Race' returns to lowest premiere yet
The midseason ratings slump continues: CBS’ Amazing Race returned to its lowest-rated premiere yet. The Emmy-winning travel competition series had 9.5 million viewers and a 2.4 rating among adults 18-49 Sunday evening for its 22nd edition. That’s down 14 percent from last year. At least that’s not as bad as Survivor‘s drop. Race didn’t help its lead-out much — CBS’ The Good Wife (8.5 million, 1.4) was down 7 percent from its last episode three weeks ago.
Meanwhile, ABC’s Revenge (3.1 million, 1.8) recovered somewhat from last week’s scary season low. The wicked soap bounced up 29 percent from last week’s all-time low with Once Upon a Time (6 million, 2.3) climbing a more modest 5 percent while airing against the Race premiere. NBC aired a tax write-off of repeats and Fox had its usual animation block.
Would love to see some Walking Dead ratings today, but that depends on whether AMC special-ordered the numbers (Sunday cable ratings usually come out on Tuesday unless a network slips some extra cash to Nielsen for extra speedy service — networks usually only do that for premieres).
