Beyonce talks Blue Ivy in 'Vogue': 'She's my road dog. She's my homey, my best friend.'
Beyoncé has always ruled the world, and now it’s Vogue-approved. The singer — who’s had a pretty banner 2013 so far — covers the fashion magazine’s March issue, and the full story is already online. The writer, Jason Gay, catches up with Bey after a L’Oréal commercial shoot to talk about her music, her upcoming HBO documentary Life Is But A Dream, and, of course, Blue Ivy Carter.
Many of the actual quotes from Beyoncé in the piece center on her daughter with husband Jay-Z. Below, check out five pieces of intel about the most famous one-year-old in the world — with guest commentary by Gwyneth Paltrow.
1.) “She’s my road dog. She’s my homey, my best friend,” Beyoncé says about Blue Ivy.
2.) “I felt like when I was having contractions, I envisioned my child pushing through a very heavy door. And I imagined this tiny infant doing all the work, so I couldn’t think about my own pain. . . . We were talking. I know it sounds crazy, but I felt a communication.”
3.) Beyoncé talks about wanting Blue to have normal childhood experiences: “School visits and lemonade stands and all that stuff. It’s very important for me.”
4.) Her mother, Tina Knowles, on the fake pregnancy rumors: “It’s tough as a mother because people say all this crazy stuff . . . and I want to say, ‘You should tell them’ sometimes. She’ll say, ‘Mom, I don’t owe them that. Let them say what they want to say.’”
5.) Gwyneth Paltrow, famous friend: “‘Blue was sleeping in her arms, across her body, and B was listening back to what she had been working on,’ Paltrow says. ‘I thought, This is how you do it. You do what you love with who you love included.'”
