Andre Braugher is going from playing a submarine captain in an action-drama series to a police captain in a comedy series.

The acclaimed actor has signed on to Fox’s untitled pilot about a group of detectives who form an odd family in their precinct in the outermost neighborhood of New York City. Andy Samberg and Terry Crews have already signed on to star in the show, which is written and produced by Parks and Recreation‘s Dan Goor and Michael Schur.

Braugher (ABC’s Last Resort, TNT’s Men of a Certain Age) will play Captain Holt. Description: “After 30 years on the force, Captain Holt has finally gotten his own command and he’s not going to let anyone, least of all Jake (Samberg), screw it up.”
