On Feb. 4, the Academy feted 160 of this year’s Oscar nominees during its dazzling annual luncheon at the Beverly Hilton. Nominated actors Jennifer Lawrence, Denzel Washington, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, and Quvenzhané Wallis were all on hand to mingle, as were directors Steven Spielberg and Ang Lee. Ben Affleck also stopped by, fresh off his triumph at the DGA Awards on Feb. 2. The win added even more juice to Argo‘s Best Picture momentum — and more intrigue to his snub in the Best Director category. ”There are nine amazing movies nominated for Best Picture. I’d love to work with David O. Russell. I’d love to work with Steven Spielberg, Ang Lee, Kathryn Bigelow,” said Affleck at the luncheon press conference. ”When I get around these people, I do feel like I should be doing an audition or something…. I’m just happy to be rubbing elbows with them.”

”I just feel so incredibly honored to be nominated as a producer for this movie — to be here at the big party.”—Ben Affleck, who directed and produced Best Picture nominee Argo
