Fox’s American Idol helped the return of Glee in the ratings.

Glee came back to 6.9 million viewers and a 2.7 among adults 18-49, up 35 percent from its last original episode six weeks ago.

Idol itself had a less exciting story. The one-hour episode was down 9 percent from last week’s Thursday premiere.

Elsewhere: The series finale of ABC’s Last Resort was up 20 percent. Grey’s Anatomy was steady. NBC’s penultimate 30 Rock was up 8 percent, but Parks & Rec and The Office were down slightly. New comedy 1600 Penn went up 8 percent, which will probably earn the show a stay of execution. CBS had repeats. CW’s Beauty and the Beast had its best rating since November.
