Adam Lambert proved that dudes can be divas too on last night’s VH1 Divas Live. Acting as the evening’s host, Lambert — and wearing plenty of guyliner — welcomed Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, Jordin Sparks and more performers to the stage.

But when it came to diva style, Miley Cyrus stole the show. After walking the red carpet in a cut-out Omo by Norma Kamali turtleneck dress, Cyrus changed into a stomach-bearing studded crop top and leather pants to perform a crotch-grabbing cover of Billy Idol’s “Rebel Yell.” The pop tart’s bad ass performance included a dramatic stage dive, but luckily no one was impaled by her shoulder spikes.

Though Kelly Clarkson’s dress failed to impress, she attracted plenty of attention with her shiny new accessory — a canary diamond engagement ring — during her performance of “Catch My Breath.” The day before the show, the singer shared the big news that boyfriend Brandon Blackstock had popped the question.

Jordin Sparks, Melanie Fiona and Ledisi remembered Whitney Houston, taking the stage to belt out some of her greatest hits. Sparks wore a glam gown with rhinestone-covered bodice and thigh high slit to sing “I’m Every Woman,” while Fiona (who performed “I Wanna Dance With Somebody”) opted for a leather dress and thigh-high Louboutins, and Ledisi was a flash of sequins and feathers as she closed the set with “How Will I Know.”

Among the musical tributes was a salute to Donna Summer performed by Lambert, Kelly Rowland and Keri Hilson. “We definitely wanted to highlight not just the music… but also to the fashion [of the era],” says Divas costume designer Heather Zweigel, who created the costumes worn by backup dancers in the Summer number and additional looks for the segment honoring Whitney Houston. “Adam can 100% keep up with the other Divas. He’s avant-garde, so it was a perfect combination for the Donna Summer performance.”

X-Factor judge Demi Lovato arrived at the Shrine Auditorium wearing a sweet TopShop dress, but changed into a silver studded jacket and mesh top when it came time to board her bubble and perform the single “Give Your Heart a Break.”
