Scarlet, the second book in Marissa Meyer’s Lunar Chronicles series hits shelves February 5. Meyer’s debut, Cinder, was a retelling of Cinderella as a cyborg set in a futuristic New Beijing. Scarlet, which is an inventive take on Little Red Riding Hood picks up where Cinder left off.

Before you watch the exclusive trailer, here’s a description of Scarlet: “Cinder returns trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive. Halfway around the world in Paris, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother and the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she has no choice but to trust him, though he clearly has a few dark secrets of his own. As Scarlet and Wolf work to unravel one mystery, and ignore their growing attraction to one another, they cross paths with Cinder. Together, they must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana who will do anything to win Cinder’s beloved Prince Kai.”

The series continues with Cress (2014), which is inspired by Rapunzel, and concludes with Winter (2015), which features Snow White. Are you excited about Scarlet? Sound off in the comments.
