The Madmans Daughter

At EW, we’re always on the lookout for the next hot YA title and I can say without a doubt that Megan Shepherd’s gothic horror The Madman’s Daughter is one of the most promising offerings for 2013. That’s why we’re offering up an exclusive trailer to whet your appetite!

Inspired by H. G. Wells’s The Island of Dr. Moreau, The Madman’s Daughter centers on Juliet Moreau, a 16-year-old working as a maid in nineteenth century London and trying to forget the horrific scandal that led to her family’s fall from grace. After all, how could those awful accusations about her late father possibly be true? However, when a face from her past returns and she learns that her father is indeed alive and continuing his abominable experiments on a remote tropical island, she will risk everything on a journey to find him. But how deep does her father’s madness run? Check out the trailer below:

Monsters, an island, and a love story! I don’t know about you, but I’m sold.

The Madman’s Daughter hits shelves Jan. 29, but you can try your hand at winning an advanced reader’s copy on Goodreads right now! And if you’re as enamored of the gorgeous cover as I am (I’ve said it before, I’m a sucker for a flowy dress), I highly suggest you check out this blog post, which offers an inside look at the making of the cover, as well as a hint about the upcoming sequels!
