She may follow the Guidette dress code to the letter, but when it comes to building her eponymous style brand, Nicole ‘Snooki’ Polizzi says she uses the Jessica Simpson business model.

On Tuesday night, the Jersey Shore star unveiled a new line of nail polish and her second fragrance at an event in New York City, telling EW why she sees her latest products as bricks in her growing empire and what she’s learned by watching Simpson achieve retail success.

“I look up to Jessica Simpson because her stuff is amazing –I’m wearing her boots right now!” Snooki gushed. “She just started off with simple things and she branded herself to become this huge empire. Her stuff is awesome. It’s affordable, good looking. I want my stuff to be like that.”

The MTV star seems to be well on her way to business mogul status. Since kicking off her brand with a line of slippers in 2010, Snooki has rolled out products like tanning lotion and a jewelry collection for Sunglasses and a Crocodilly stuffed animal like the one she dragged around on the early seasons of Jersey Shore are among the items available on HSN, where Snooki recently made an appearance to hawk her new line of nail products.

“I sold the ‘All that Glitters’ [nail polish] set on HSN, and they sold out,” says the new mother, who admits she’s had to scale back some of her more extreme beauty habits. “I used to wear these crazy long nails. I had to tone down the length because I don’t want to poke Lorenzo’s eye out.”

What’s next for the Snooki brand? “I want to do a clothing line. That’s definitely my goal,” she says.
